POLICE believe a man who stabbed a 73-year-old woman in the neck during a violent home invasion last week in Melbourne’s south-east attempted to use a stolen card at an ATM machine half an hour later.

Footage of the suspect was released on Friday, showing a white man aged in his 30s or 40s and wearing a high visibility jacket attempting to use the stolen card on the corner of Lonsdale and Clow Streets, Dandenong, about 4.05pm the same day.

The armed crime taskforce is investigating the armed robbery, where a man entered the elderly woman’s house in Georgette Crescent, Endeavour Hills last Tuesday, and stabbed her.

Emergency services were called about 3.30pm and the woman was taken to the Dandenong Hospital with life threatening injuries, where she remains in a serious condition.

Police are seeking help from another man who was using the ATM at approximately the same time as the suspect.
