Speeding driver evades police

POLICE are hunting a driver who lost control of his car and fled on foot after a high-speed chase in Doveton.

Senior Sergeant Phil Byrne, of Endeavour Hills police, said officers tried to pull over a car being driven on the wrong side of Kidd Road about midnight last Thursday.

A police pursuit was called off when the car reached 135km/h in Power Road. Mr Byrne said the car was found a short time later.

It had hit a tree and the driver had gone.
