GREATER Dandenong council has rejected another two multi-storey residential developments in Noble Park after concerns the buildings would be an overdevelopment of the area and would be out of character.
It follows a similar proposal in Guild Avenue which was rejected last month by the council.
The two proposals before the council this week included 5 Logan Court where developers wanted to build three double storey dwellings, and at 13 Blaby Street, where four multi-unit dwellings were proposed.
Noble Park Ward councillor Pinar Yesil raised alternative recommendations to refuse both proposals after listening to residents’ concerns over possible traffic congestion, safety issues and overdevelopment.
She also referred to a story in the Star (9 February) which featured a picture taken by Diggins Court resident Bernie Howard showing flooding in Blaby Street following heavy rain.
Cr Yesil said the Blaby Street development would ‘create undesirable precedent’ if passed, and the Logan Court development was ‘inconsistent with the neighbourhood character of the area’.
