Fire ends up a fizzer

KIDS have used soft drink retrieved from a bin to extinguish a deliberately lit fire in Noble Park.
Two teenagers were seen on the western side of a former school in Athol Road shortly after 9pm on 25 January, where it’s believed they reached through a steel gate and lit a small fire on a chair.
Police said a group of kids smelled smoke and located the fire, called Triple Zero, then went through nearby rubbish bins to find discarded soft drink containers and poured the leftovers onto the fire.
Greater Dandenong CIU detectives are keen to speak to the pair initially seen in the area, both believed to be about 16 years old.
One was described as African in appearance and the other as Asian in appearance. They were seen riding together on a red BMX bicycle.
Anyone with information should call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
Earlier that day, fire gutted a Noble Park North garage after boxes and a chest of drawers inside were set alight.
Police are appealing to the public for any information on the Rainsford Street blaze, which was started between 5am and 7am.
Call Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Bret Lavars on 9767 7487 with any information.
