VIOLENT public transport users king-hit a police officer, knocking him unconscious, at Noble Park Train Station last week.
It was the beginning of a violent week at the station – a second incident occurring this week in which a 20-year-old man was assaulted while using a pay phone.
Dandenong detectives said the police officer was supervising as his colleagues intervened during a fight on Tuesday, 2 January at 8.30pm.
But the transit police officer was suddenly struck from behind.
He was knocked unconscious and left with soft tissue injuries, detectives said.
Police arrested a man at the scene.
In a separate incident this Tuesday, a 20-year-old Narre Warren man was assaulted while using the station’s pay phone. Police said the man’s wallet was stolen and an attempt was made to steal his backpack.
A 14-year-old boy from Carrum was interviewed and released pending further investigations.
•A 33-year-old Mulgrave man has been charged with intent to cause injury.
The man is scheduled to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 16 March.
And police this week charged a 17-year-old Narre Warren youth with robbery and affray. He will appear before Melbourne Children’s Court this week.
