A CITY of Greater Dandenong decision on Monday night paves the way for nine new warehouses in Noble Park.
Councillors approved an application to rezone the land at 417-425 Princes Highway, Noble Park, from Residential 1 to Mixed Use Zone.
This will allow 409-423 Princes Highway to be developed and used for warehouses, showrooms and offices.
Councillors agreed the rezoning was consistent with the neighbouring land and asked the Planning Minister for authorisation to prepare a planning scheme amendment.
The planning permit to construct the new buildings will be exhibited for public comment with the proposed amendment once this has been received.
“The subject site is in an area where employment land is largely occupied, and thus opportunities for small-scale mixed use development are rare,” the council report on the application said.
“A market assessment report submitted with the request identified demand for small-scale mixed commercial development as is currently proposed.”
It said the proposal would generate a range of economic benefits related to employment and business development.
