WAVERLEY inflicted the Dandenong Rangers’ Championship Women’s side with its fifth loss of the season at the Waverley Basketball Centre on Saturday night.
The Falcons won 79-63 as the Rangers struggled to post any impressive numbers.
Only two Dandenong players, Meagan Green (14 points) and Tess Meyer (10), managed to score in the double figures, while Waverley enjoyed contributors all over the court. Sharon Grieve scored a game-high 17 points for the Falcons and Melanie Fraser netted 14 of her own.
The Falcons outscored Dandenong in every period, and ran away with the win in the final quarter to firm in second position on the Big V ladder. The Rangers, with only three wins from eight games, have slumped to seventh.
Dandenong returns to the Stud Road stadium on Saturday to take on fourth-placed Sandringham in a must-win game.
Tip-off is at 5.30pm.
