SPRINGVALE North survived a scare against Eildon Park in Tennis Victoria Grade Two Pennant action on Sunday.
Springvale won the match by just four games after the four sets rubbers evenly split between the two sides.
Coach Stephen Sruk came out firing, winning his match 6-2 6-0.
Losses to young guns Trent Cobb (5-7 1-6) and Stephen Nguyen (1-6 1-6) gave Eildon Park a seemingly unbeatable lead coming into the final match of the day.
But Springvale North veteran Zelko Lovric had other ideas, and thrashed his opponent 6-1 6-0 to square the rubbers ledger at 2-2 and give his side a four-game victory.
The 43-year-old had his younger opponent beaten for speed, strength and placement and was unaffected by the skidding synthetic surface.
Henryk Pawlukowski missed the singles round with a virus, but is expected to replace Lovric this Sunday when Springvale North travels to Hampton for doubles.
