DANCING, entertainment and prizes greeted residents – many of them ex-servicemen and their widows – at a Mulgrave aged care home, thanks to Dandenong RSL’s welfare committee.
On Tuesday committee members went to Hansworth Aged Care Facility loaded with carnations, door prizes and their best dancing shoes.
Welfare committee chairman John Filmer said the Hansworth visit was to highlight the work done by the RSL’s volunteers, who visit up to 12 aged care facilities in the cities of Casey, Greater Dandenong and beyond, to provide welfare for ex-servicemen and their widows.
Residents at Hansworth were all welcome on the day, along with the 20 RSL-related residents, Mr Filmer said.
Welfare committee members danced with residents, gave each a ticket for a free raffle, and presented the residents with carnations.
Prizes included free dinners at the Dandenong RSL and boutique boxes of chocolates.
