HOTSHOTS from the United States travelled to Dandenong Basketball Stadium on the weekend for the annual Converse Melbourne Tigers tournament.
Some of the Victoria’s best basketball talents faced off against combined high school and college teams from the US in the three-day competition.
More than 150 teams from the under 10s to under 23s took part, including teams from Dandenong, Springvale, Endeavour Hills, Hampton Park and Cranbourne.
The US teams were impressive, winning both the girls’ under 23 and under 20 divisions.
But it was by no means an easy road for the US, with many Victorian sides able to match it with the imports during the competition.
One of the highlights of the tournament was the girls’ under 20s final, which went down to the wire with the US prevailing against Bulleen by five points.
Tigers legends Andrew and Lindsay Gaze were in attendance, holding several clinics and special development programs over the weekend.
The tournament has been running for 22 years and promises to be bigger and better next year with organisers hoping to attract teams from interstate.
