Back pay for child care manager

A NOBLE Park child care centre has back-paid $6000 to a manager following a Fair Work Ombudsman investigation.
Fair Work Ombudsman Natalie James said that it was the employer’s responsibility to ensure employees received their full entitlements.
She helped the child care centre pay the manager for hours not paid earlier this year and no further action was required.
Ms James said that when Fair Work inspectors identified a problem and contacted a business, most employers cross-checked their records, realised they’d made an error and fixed it immediately.
“We have a flexible, fair approach and our preference is to work with employers to educate them and help them voluntarily rectify any non-compliance issues we identify,” she said.
There are tools and resources at www.fairwork.gov.au to help business owners pay correct pay rates and entitlements.
