Car stolen from family at knifepoint

TWO teens stole a car from a family of five at knifepoint in Dandenong earlier this month.
A Dandenong man, 34, parked in Herbert Street about 4.30pm on 5 December.
As he and his wife were taking their three children out of the Holden Commodore station wagon, a boy approached them from behind, produced a knife and demanded the car’s keys.
The armed thief got into the driver’s seat while a girl got into the passenger seat, and started reversing the vehicle as the victim was still removing a child from a car seat.
He performed a U-turn and turned right into James Street.
Detectives from robbery taskforce Embona are investigating.
They recovered the vehicle and have charged a Dandenong girl, 15, with armed robbery.
They interviewed and released a boy, 17, also from Dandenong, pending further inquiries.
Police are appealing for any witnesses to come forward.
