RESIDENTS can bid to be Greater Dandenong’s mayor for a day at the forthcoming Mayoral Charity Ball in September.
The fundraising initiative is part of an auction that will raise funds for the Springvale and Dandenong benevolent societies, Joey’s Van and Alzheimer’s Australia
The Mayoral Charity Ball will be held at the Grand International in Dandenong on 1 September.
In a statement from the council, Cr Chea said he was excited about the extraordinary auction item.
“Being in touch with the community is a vital aspect of my role as mayor, and of councillors generally,” he said.
“Auctioning the office of mayor for a day takes this concept one step further and gives a regular member of the community access to me for an entire day.
“I look forward to working with the auction winner, who may even get the chance to wear the mayoral robes.”
Tables of 10 are available for group and corporate bookings.
Tickets are on sale for $70 per person and include a three-course meal and unlimited partial bar.
Swing and blues act The Jump Devils will take centre stage on the night, which also features multicultural performances, a raffle and auction.
For inquiries and bookings phone 9239 5230.
