A SPRINGVALE engineering company will use a $45,000 grant to develop a part for recreational electric vehicles that is currently imported.
Elektromotive Australia received a State Government Technology Development Voucher to work with Aqua Trip to develop a power control component.
Technology Minister and South Eastern Metropolitan Region MP Gordon Rich-Phillips said that until now, Elektromotive Australia had been modifying off-the-shelf power control components sourced from independent overseas suppliers that have limited capabilities, communication, reliability and unstable pricing.
“Developing this type of technology in-house and in close collaboration with an Australian supplier will remove the difficulties in communication and reliability,” he said.
“The project will give them an increased competitive advantage in existing categories and open up new, local and overseas markets with next-generation products, as well as create more jobs in-house, and outside of the company.”
Mr Rich-Phillips said the Technology Voucher Program supported projects that involved developing new technology or exploring the application of existing technologies in innovative or novel ways.
“We have also established a searchable directory of technology capabilities and suppliers, listing companies and organisations that can provide services to voucher applicants,” he said.
“The directory lists over 200 Technology Voucher Program suppliers and enables users to easily connect applicant needs with supplier capabilities.”
