Cash for the crusade

By CASEY NEILL

CORNISH College has raised $610 to help a young man on an 18,000-kilometre crusade.
Students and teachers at the Bangholme school dressed in yellow and made a gold coin donation last Tuesday to support Jimmy’s Walk for Cancer.
Jimmy Harrington, 20, is walking 18,000 kilometres around Australia with the goal of raising $300,000 for charity Brainchild.
Medical professionals established Brainchild in 2010 to heighten awareness of childhood brain and spinal cancers and raise funds for research and financial support for families.
Cornish College parent Nikki Ockwell saw Jimmy’s story on Facebook and asked school chaplain Jarrod Davies if the community could help.
Mr Davies helped Ms Ockwell’s niece Georgia Bell, a Year 11 student, to invite Jimmy to speak at the school and accept a donation.
