Woman gives chase to phone muggers

THIEVES pushed a 20-year-old woman to the ground and stole her mobile phone as she walked home in Springvale.
Greater Dandenong CIU Detective Senior Constable Kane Taylor said she was outside Killster College on Springvale Road about 6.10pm on 5 October when the men approached, pushed her down and grabbed her mobile phone from inside her jacket as she lay on the ground.
She chased them for about 300 metres as they ran south along Springvale Road, turned left into Ann Street and turned right into Billing Street.
They’re both described as African and about 20 years old.
One was thin and about 180 centimetres tall, and was wearing a white T-shirt, black shorts, white baseball cap, a backpack, and headphones around his neck.
The other was about 165cm tall and wearing a black T-shirt.
Sen Const Taylor said the woman ran to a friend’s house nearby then reported the crime to Springvale Police Station.
“Police patrolled the area but didn’t find anyone,” he said.
He appealed for witnesses to call Greater Dandenong CIU on 9767 7487.
