POLICE this morning charged a Noble Park teen over an alleged assault on a deaf man and an autistic boy on a bus to Keysborough.
The bus had departed Waverley Gardens Shopping Centre on Sunday 7 September.
Police yesterday (Thursday) released CCTV footage of the incident, which led to a call to Crime Stoppers and the arrest of a 19-year-old about 10.10am today.
A deaf 32-year-old man was sitting alone on the moving bus about 3pm when a man approached and asked what he was looking at.
Sergeant Cassandra Stone from Dandenong Police said the man punched the victim in the face when he did not respond, then walked back to his seat at the rear of the bus.
A 14-year-old autistic boy was sitting nearby and moved to the front of the bus.
The offender followed and struck him in the face several times, causing cuts in and around his mouth and a bloody nose.
The alleged attacker got off the bus near Kingsclere Avenue, Keysborough.
He has been charged with one count of recklessly causing injury and two counts of unlawful assault.
He was bailed to appear at Dandenong Magistrates’ Court on 28 January.
