WORK is now easier at the Keysmen Men’s Shed thanks to a community grant.
Keysborough Learning Centre (KLC) installed new height adjustable work benches in the shed late last year using a $3516 Slater and Gordon Community Fund grant.
KLC general manager Neil Cooper said the funding covered four benches but the group found room for and purchased a fifth.
Chairman John Heynes said in KLC’s annual report that the Keysmen members’ help with maintenance had shown immeasurable support in the smooth operation of KLC activities.
He said the shed provided a place for men to enjoy social activities, learn new skills and discuss men’s business.
“It has also been a place of meeting and activity for men seeking asylum and they are most welcome,” Mr Heynes said.
The Slater and Gordon Community Fund includes money raised through the law firm’s Staff Giving Program.
Dandenong lawyer Allan Macrae said it was great to support a program that would improve access and mobility for people with physical disabilities.
