THE BULLDOZERS have arrived in Dandenong to begin demolishing former retail icon the Arkana Hardware store.
Once cleared, the site on the corner of Foster and Lonsdale Streets will be transformed into a $30 million mixed-use, multi-storey development.
It is being developed by Deal Corporation and will contain retail showrooms on the lower floors, and a combination of office space and residential dwellings on the floors above.
The development is part of the Revitalising Central Dandenong initiative being conducted by VicUrban and the City of Greater Dandenong.
