Combo to mix it up for the family

IT’S time to put your dancing shoes on as Andy Baylor’s Cajun Combo comes to town.
As part of Autumn Music in May, Baylor will combine his talents for blues, jazz, folk and swing in a musical extravaganza the whole family can enjoy.
City of Greater Dandenong Festival and Events coordinator Fran Silvester Cox said the concert was an opportunity for families to listen to an eclectic mix of music.
“This is a band that will fill you full of joy and a desire to dance,” Ms Silvester Cox said.
“People can come along and enjoy the garden surrounds while listening to a range of musical styles from blues to swing.”
Baylor is an accomplished and well respected guitarist and violinist, who together with his five-member band, performs an infectious mix of bluesiana, cajun and swing.
He spent his formative years in Melbourne and played in bands including the Honeydrippers and the Auto drifters.
Baylor also performed with US music masters including Jimmy Witherspoon, Big Jay McNeely, Louisiana Red and Screamin Jay Hawkins.
One of the highlights of Baylor’s career was when Bob Dylan selected his band Baylor Brothers to be his support act during his 1992 concert tour.
Autumn Music in May will be held on Sunday, 4 May at Burden Park, corner Springvale and Heatherton roads, Springvale, from 2pm to 4pm.
The Lions Club will provide a barbecue, tea, coffee and icecreams at a small cost.
