NOBLE Park Secondary College can safely say it is a “Kool Skool”.
The School was recently awarded three awards at the Kool Skool Awards, a music awards night for Victorian Secondary Schools who took part in a recording and multimedia project.
Projects are open to all secondary schools and council youth agencies, youth associations or clubs. Kool Skools promotes, develops and supports a diverse range of talent and all genres of contemporary music writing and performance.
Each school or project gets to work within a professional studio in either Melbourne or Sydney, recording an album of original music by their own school bands.
All schools receive 500 CDs containing their own music, video, graphics and virtual photo album.
School music coordinator Dylan Redman said it was exciting to see Noble Park Secondary students excel in the project.
“The awards night was something like the ARIAs or MTV Music Awards,” he said.
“We were able to scoop up an award for best ballad, best CD artwork and best Hip Hop track – not to mention being named the Koolest Skool.”
He said 35 students took part in the project and it was open to all students at the school.
“Some of these kids were causing a bit of trouble at school when they started, but now that they are a part of the project they really had something to look forward to.”
