Small campus, big result

By Melissa Meehan
THE nervous wait for Year 12 students was over on Monday when they received their VCE results.
Students and teachers at Keysborough Secondary College’s Springvale campus are celebrating another successful year, with nine students achieving ENTER scores higher than 95.
Head of Senior School at the Springvale campus, Ian Pegram, said he was pleased with the result.
“We actually do very well on a regular basis,” Mr Pegram said. “But it was great to see that the students maintained our reputation for achieving results well above the State average.”
He said having a small school population contributed to the high scores. “Kids get individual attention here,” he said.
“And it also helps that parents are very respectful to both the teachers and education.”
The school had 59 students complete their VCE this year, with Mr Pegram saying, “30 per cent received an ENTER score of over 80 and more than 50 per cent received an ENTER score of more than 70.’’
“Excellence is admired and respected at our school,” he said.
Dux of the College for 2008 was Huong Ly Duong with an ENTER score of 98.7, followed closely by Tom Le with 98.45.
Ly Doung said she was pleased the nervous wait was over.
“The school definitely helped us achieve our results,” she said.
“It has amazing teachers and we have been able to bounce off each other – it’s been great.”
