BURDEN Park’s top Victorian Ladies Bowling Association pennant side continued on its winning way this week, defeating Dandenong RSL 95-85.
The close match was a fierce battle with Burden Park eventually gaining the upper hand and proving too strong for the RSL ladies.
The Burden Park seconds side played the higher-placed Dandenong RSL, which sits second on the ladder.
But Burden Park never looked beatable, bowling too consistently and accurately to streak away to a 30-shot victory, 107-77.
Lois Eva’s and Barbara Walker’s rinks both won by 17 shots and were without a doubt match winners.
Burden Park’s third side played local neighbours Keysborough, and the two sides could not be split, drawing 50-50.
Burden Park’s Royal Victorian Bowls Association Premier side faced the highly fancied Glen Eira-McKinnon on Saturday.
Burden Park put in a sterling performance in windy, swirling conditions but failed over the 100 ends losing 99-90.
It was a close match and great indication that Burden Park is up there and competitive against the league’s top bowlers.
The second side was the underdog at Cranbourne but upset the home side 103-91.
Skip Rob Byrnes, Jon Morris, Gary Rush and Ian Pretty were big winners 40-14.
After early wins the third side faltered at home to Mulgrave Country Club 94-77.
After last week’s good win the fourth side also slipped against Clayton 96-86.
The fifth side is still battling to get on the winners’ board this season, losing this week to Black Rock 107-88.
After last week’s bye the sixth side travelled to Heathmont and won 90-83.
