A car collided with a train in Noble Park on Saturday 17 September.
Police believe a white Nissan Dualis turned left from Railway Parade and was travelling south on Chandler Road about 7.35am.
They’ve been told that the car went under the boom gates as they were closing and collided with an outbound train.
The 33-year-old Cranbourne West man behind the wheel was not injured in the incident, and neither were any train passengers.
Investigations into the collision are ongoing.
Acting Sergeant Kylie Baulch from Springvale police station said the incident was a timely reminder for drivers to be careful around level crossings.
“We just want to remind people they shouldn’t try to cross when gates or booms are operating or when red lights are flashing,” she said.
“Don’t take the risk and try to beat the train at a level crossing as this can too often end in tragedy.
“We want to encourage road users to slow down, keep an eye out for trains approaching and obey traffic signals.”
Police are urging anyone who witnessed the collision or has information to call Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or submit a confidential report at www.crimestoppersvic.com.au.
