Armed men tried to rob an off-duty police officer at a Dandenong car wash, police allege.
The member and a friend attended the Cheltenham Road business about 10.05pm on Wednesday 11 January.
One man approached and asked for change for a $5 note which the victims said they did not have.
A second man, who appeared to be carrying a firearm, then allegedly demanded cash and grabbed at his pockets.
Police arrested the men at a petrol station on Cheltenham Road, Dandenong, about 5.30pm on Thursday 12 January.
They were driving a stolen vehicle and tried to flee the scene, police allege.
Police charged the 23-year-old and 26-year-old, both from Noble Park, with attempted robbery, possessing a firearm, thefts and false imprisonment.
