He’s a councillor on the move

By Casey Neill

Greater Dandenong councillor Tim Dark refused to comment on a council meeting seat swap that’s moved him from between two ALP colleagues.
Cr Dark successfully ran as an independent candidate but “a proud Liberal” for a Paperbark Ward seat at last October’s local government election.
During his first few Greater Dandenong Council meetings, he sat between fellow Paperbark Ward representatives and Labor Party members Roz Blades and Heang Tak.
At the 23 January meeting he had noticeably swapped seats with Cr Tak and shifted to the end of the councillor table.
Several sources told the Journal that Cr Dark requested the move because he did not want to sit between two ALP members.
The Journal asked Cr Dark whether this was the reason behind the shift.
“That is correct I have changed positions,” he said.
“I am happy to comment on issues pertaining to Paperbark Ward and other critical issues that we are currently facing such as crime out of control in Greater Dandenong and the Andrews government’s current energy crisis with bills set to skyrocket.
“I won’t be commenting on any internal issues pertaining to council or anything like this that is not important to the ratepayers.”
