THEY have spent half a century together, last week Alex and Gloria Forbes celebrated their golden wedding anniversary.
After meeting in Phillip Island at Christmas time in 1955 the two have been inseparable.
“We have three kids and five grandchildren,” Alex told the Star.
“And the whole family was here to celebrate.”
Both have teaching backgrounds, Gloria a kindergarten teacher in Dandenong, Endeavour Hills and Upper Beaconsfield, and Alex taught at Dandenong Tech.
Since they retired the couple like to spend their time travelling and in company with friends and family.
“I think that is the key to a long marriage,” Alex said.
“To make sure your family is around you and have a great group of friends around you too.”
He said his friends at the Masonic Lodge and the ladies at the Churchill Golf Course were great company and the couple often caught up with a large group of them to go on vacation or just catch up.
