A WOULD-BE bandit got more than he bargained for when he tried to hold up a milk bar at Keysborough over the weekend.
Police said the man, who was armed with a meat cleaver, entered the milk bar at Isaac Road and Currawong Street about 7pm on Sunday night.
When the store operator, who was at the back of the store, came to serve the customer, the bandit confronted him and demanded money.
Armed with a metal tray and serving scoop, the store operator chased the bandit from the milk bar.
The bandit, who fled on foot empty-handed, was described as being of Asian appearance, with blond tips in his hair.
Frankston detectives are investigating the incident. Anyone with information is asked to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000 or at www.crimestoppers.com.au.
