AS PRELIMINARY investigations into the City of Greater Dandenong continue, mayor Pinar Yesil has welcomed any probe into the council.
“I don’t know what the allegation is,” she told the Star.
“Yes, there is an internal investigation happening, but it’s confidential and I won’t be saying any more.”
She said she was disappointed that councillors had spoken about the investigation because it was a confidential matter.
“It’s not ethical,” she said.
But councillor Maria Sampey said her interview with the investigating inspectorate went for more than two hours on Wednesday morning.
“Mine went for so long because I had so much to show them,” she said.
It is believed that the investigation relates to claims by three councillors that the Labor Party interfered in the 2007/08 mayoral election.
