A Nissan Skyline was travelling at 179 kilometres an hour in an 80 zone in Springvale, police allege.
The Greater Dandenong Highway Patrol crew impounded the car for 30 days at a cost of $950.
The 23-year-old Dandenong man who was behind the wheel will receive a summons to attend court in relation to exceeding the speed limit and driving at a dangerous speed.
