Couture Mantra by Kiran Lally’s Dandenong store officially launched with a fashion runway party on 23 March.

Based at 109 Foster Street, the launch marked the high-end Indian ethnic wear’s first step into the South East suburbs.

The launch party consisted of canapes and traditional Indian sweets, as well as a fashion runway.

Each garment presented on the runway was unique and elegant.

The styles and silk fabrics were true to traditional authentic Indian heritage and culture.

Ranging from casual to formal wear, the garments complemented all skin tones.

Greater Dandenong mayor Roz Blades, who officially launched the store, was fascinated by the exquisite garments.

Cr Blades took great interest in the high quality of the rich fabrics, exceptional tailoring, and intricate hand embroidery.

Ninety percent of Couture Mantra fabrics are designed from scratch.

The brand specialises in hand made pure silk and silk cotton lining. Breathable and lightweight, silk is the best fibre for all seasons.

All Couture Mantra embroidery patterns and materials are developed and designed by Kiran Lally. Each piece is unique and one of a kind.

Ms Lally is the first mainstream Indian fashion designer in Australia which brought a refreshing modern perspective in the Indian fashion industry.

She decided to open a store on Foster Street because the strip is the heart and soul of Dandenong’s ethnic Indian wear.

“Our clients should have the convenience to shop in more than one store.

“We are the only Indian designer store in Dandenong, in the next block from the street shops opposite to Karachi Pakwan.”

Brought up in Australia, Ms Lally nevertheless chose to focus on Indian ethnic wear.

“I was always unable to find good quality products which suited my style in India and Australia.

“I decided to design pieces from scratch and haven’t stopped since then.”
