SPRINGVALE CFA will open its doors to the local community next month.
The local CFA station hopes the open day will engage the wider community and provide local families, including those from non-English speaking backgrounds, with a better understanding of what the local fire service does.
Officer in charge Sean Kerr said the day would provide a great insight into the life of a fire brigade.
“A great number of our community drive past our station every day,” Mr Kerr said.
“We want to provide them with the opportunity to see behind the brick walls and glass doors.”
The day will feature firefighting equipment, demonstrations, motor vehicle accident rescue simulation, fire station tours, kids’ activities and a visit from CFA mascot Captain Koala.
It will be held on Saturday 14 May from 9.30am to 4pm at the Springvale Fire Station, 518 Springvale Road, Springvale South.
