KEYSBOROUGH will try to do on Saturday what no other team has been able to this year: defeat Cranbourne.
“The challenge for the boys is to play against the best and test themselves and they’re looking forward to doing that,” Keysborough coach Brad Canavan said.
“They’ve vowed to stick tight and there’s a lot of positive energy in the group. I’ve told the players, we’ll keep coaching and keep educating them and developing them right up until the last minute of the last game.”
The match at Rowley Allen Reserve will be the Burras’ final home match.
Keysborough’s woes compounded last Saturday when they were on the wrong end of a 152-point shellacking at Kalora Park.
The high-standard first quarter proved to be a false dawn as the Magpies took control over the next three quarters to record an emphatic win.
Ben Hoskin led the Burras with a strong performance through the midfield and in defence, where he halted several Narre Warren thrusts.
“Waata Wells was really good in the midfield for us, Corey Wilkinson went forward and must have touched the footy 10 or 12 times in the first quarter and kicked a goal,” Canavan said.“Big ‘Moose’ Rajic went into the ruck (in place of injured Shaun Witherden) and toiled really well for us. Ryan Goodes was always on the bottom of the packs and Geoff Humphreys was good through the midfield.”
