FOR five years students at Minaret College have been digging deep and sponsoring orphans through Human Appeal International.
The college is responsible for sponsoring eight orphans, committing $4800 each year to better the lives of children in Sudan, Kosovo, Bosnia and Palestine among others.
Fundraising activities are entirely student driven and more than $11,000 has been raised so far this year.
Cake stalls, pizza drives and a charity soccer tournament are just some of the events the students have run to raise money for the cause. This year their fundraising representatives have asked that everyone donates at least $10.
The money raised above the commitment to Human Appeal International will go towards drought victims in Somalia.
Mahmoud Ali from the organisation attended the presentation to receive the cheque.
