TWO students from Lyndale Secondary College in Dandenong North achieved ATAR scores of more than 99.
School dux, Jin Shan, scored 99.15 and will be studying biomedicine on a scholarship at the University of Melbourne, with the opportunity to study at one of the university’s overseas campuses.
He is considering a career in optometry, with the possibility of studying eye surgery.
Alisha Shamim was also a high achiever, scoring a 99.05. She received the school’s Award for Academic Excellence in recognition of her consistent high standard of work since starting at the school in Year 7.
She has decided to attend Monash University, where she has been offered a scholarship, and do a double degree in commerce and arts. Alisha said she was over the moon about her excellent ATAR score. “It was kind of unbelievable at first and now it just feels good to know I can get into the course of my choice,” she said.
She is enjoying the long break before university starts and is looking forward to taking the next step in her life.
Year 12 VCE co-ordinator Bill Hollingworth congratulated the pair on their fantastic achievements of which, he said the school community was ‘justly proud’.- Emma Sun
