MILOS Ridesic earned himself a nod as one of Australia’s top young soccer players.
Ridesic, 15, from North Dandenong, was part of the Football Federation Victoria (FFV) National Training Centre (NTC) team which participated in the NTC Institute Challenge in Canberra last month.
Playing mostly as a central defender, Ridesic was named in the All-Star team for the tournament, and was identified to take part in a training camp from which the squad for the next Australian Joeys under-17 team will be selected.
The Challenge saw nine NTC teams take part, with Victoria finishing the tournament with five wins, one draw and two losses.
Ridesic was excited to be part of the All-Star team, and hoped it would guide him towards an Australian jersey in years to come.
“It’s great to be selected in the All-Star team and have that little bit of individual recognition,” Ridesic said.
Ridesic was proud of the way Victoria played, with the defence holding up against strong opposition in most of their matches.
“It was good to play with such a great Victorian team,” Ridesic said.
“We kept five clean sheets from eight matches, so I’m really proud of that.
“My highlight would be the match against Tasmania.
“We kept a clean sheet even though we changed goalkeeper half way through the match.
“We dominated that game.”
The next looming challenge for Ridesic is gaining selection in the Australian under-16s team, which will head to Iran to play in the AFC Asian Championships.
