A FIRE in a Dandenong North home’s garage on Sunday caused explosions that echoed across the suburb.
CFA crews found a double garage alight when they arrived in Hillside Avenue, near Simpson Street, shortly before 3am on 21 October following triple zero calls from neighbours reporting the blasts.
Four units and 12 firefighters from Dandenong and Hallam wore breathing apparatus and worked quickly to stop the fire spreading to the brick home and an adjoining fence.
Large amounts of paint in the garage caused the explosions.
The owner also lost Channel 7 memorabilia he had collected and automotive items.
Nobody was injured and the cause of the fire is not deemed suspicious.
