Defying a grim forecast, rains kept away but the crowds poured into the 148th Dandenong Show on 9-10 November.

Visitors were treated to a full program of magnificent animals, fireworks, hot rod cars, Frisbee-catching dogs, gumboot throws and wheelie bin races.

The healthy turnout indicated that the show remains a treasured event, show president Alan Collier said.

“We all had a good time.

“While it was raining in other areas (on the Saturday), it wasn’t in Dandenong.”

The committee was joined by VIPs including mayor Youhorn Chea, Dandenong MP Gabrielle Williams and former Journal editor Peter Simcock and his wife Julie.
