ALDI supermarket will open its doors to the public at the Dandenong Market site today (Thursday).
The store is another in a stable of more than 5000 supermarkets the company has worldwide.
The supermarket chain is renowned for its affordable prices and cost-saving techniques, such as charging for plastic bag use, and stocking ALDI-brand products based on those that people buy often.
ALDI maintains that its products are of high quality.
Last week the City of Greater Dandenong Council passed parking amendments to service the ALDI precinct, including two-hour maximum parking sites available seven days a week.
