DANDENONG Jayco Rangers Big V Championship veteran Mark Roberts will play his 300th ABA game on Saturday 27 May at home against Sandringham at 8pm.
Roberts started his basketball career at eight years of age, playing with the Junior Rangers in the Victorian Metropolitan Junior Championship from the age of 12 through to the under 20s.
He represented Victoria in under 16, under 18 and under 20 teams, winning gold medals in the under 18s and under 20s.
In 1997 Roberts was a member of the SEABL East Conference Championship-winning team with Dandenong.
Over the years he has built a fierce reputation as a great defender, team person and leader who is averaging 9.71 points, 3.29 assists and three rebounds per game in the Big V.
During season 2004 Roberts won the Rangers’ MVP award, the Jim Roberts Memorial Award, named after Mark’s father.
When asked about his achievements, Roberts acknowledged the milestone and said it had been a pleasure being involved with the Dandenong Rangers over the seasons.
The Rangers encourages all its supporters to come to the game on 27 May to acknowledge Roberts’ milestone and cheer the team home.
