Car parts stolen, dumped

SPRINGVALE police are calling for community assistance in tracking down thieves who stole $80,000 of high-performance car parts from a Springvale business.
Sergeant Geoff Straughen said the theft occurred at Southern Jet Ski, Peace Street, Springvale, between 7pm on 7 March and 3am on 8 March.
He said thieves cut a hole through the front fence of the premises before smashing a window to gain entry to the shop and stealing the car parts.
Sgt Straughen said the thieves then used a Nissan utility to ram through the front cyclone fence, leaving the area with the goods.
Police recovered the vehicle at 3am on 8 March, but the car parts or offenders were not to be seen.
On Saturday police recovered a large amount of the stolen property, which was discovered dumped in a reserve near Hope Street, Springvale.
Sgt Straughen said police believe a small ute or truck would have been required to transport the goods to the reserve, and they were calling for anyone with information who noticed any unusual activity over Friday, 10 March and Saturday, 11 March.
Anyone with information should contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
