Leading by 29 points at three-quarter time, the Magpies failed to score a goal in the final term, managing just five points.
Mordialloc booted five goals to claw back into the game and almost end the Magpies’ chances of playing finals football.
Playing bottom side Murrumbeena in the final home and away round, Clayton is expected to finish the season in fourth place.
