REMEMBRANCE Day ceremonies were held throughout Greater Dandenong on the weekend to commemorate those who have paid the ultimate sacrifice for their country during various conflicts.
Remembrance Day again fell on Dandenong Show weekend, and this year show organisers had a special ceremony complete with a minute’s silence to honour the fallen.
Dandenong RSL member Les Hughes returned to the showgrounds to again sell poppies and other Remembrance Day paraphernalia of which the funds go towards support services for frail servicemen or their widows.
Mr Hughes said this year people had been very responsive to the cause.
Both Dandenong and Noble Park RSL held services with Noble Park having a moving contingency of veterans from a variety of wars including Vietnam, in attendance.
Tributes flow on a day to remember
