POLICE are appealing for witnesses after the death of a young Springvale South man in a motor accident this week.
The 23-year-old was the only occupant of a Mazda being driven along Wellington Road in Mulgrave, shortly after midnight yesterday (7 December).
Senior Constable Michael Henry said police believe the car left the road near Lea Road, first striking a pole, and then a tree.
He said the driver died at the scene, and no other vehicles were involved in the collision.
Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
