COUNCILLORS will have to pay their own way if they want to visit the City of Greater Dandenong’s sister city in China as part of 10-year anniversary celebrations of the relationship between the two cities..
Greater Dandenong mayor Peter Brown said councillors had indicated at this week’s briefing meeting they were likely to approve a delegation to Xuzhou city in China as long as councillors paid their airfares.
He said the rest of the trip would be paid for by the Chinese government. The Xuzhou trip date has not been finalised but is expected to be in October.
“In the past all councillors except the mayor have paid their own way,” Cr Brown said.
“Seeing how as mayor I won’t be going, the other councillors will pay their own way as usual.”
A council report states it is part of 10-year anniversary celebrations of the relationship between the two cities.
