Titled Bendigo Bank goes Australian School Based Learning (ASBA), the program will take applicants from schools in the cities of Greater Dandenong, Cardinia and Casey.
The Dandenong, Berwick, Cranbourne and Pakenham branches of Bendigo Bank will each take two ASBA students who will work one day a week for the duration of the certificate.
Holt MP Anthony Byrne helped launch the program on Wednesday 9 April in Dandenong.
Bendigo Bank’s Victorian manager Scott Elkington said the bank’s partnership with SELLEN would prove beneficial for finance students in the region.
“The program is a commitment we are more than happy to make in order to prepare future employees for Australia’s financial services workforce,” he said.
“We are honoured, as well, to provide opportunities for some of the outstanding candidates who applied for the traineeship.”
Shortlisted candidates for the traineeships were interviewed by the relevant branch Bendigo Bank regards the program as an opportunity to train future employees if students want to remain employed in the branch.
