A picture of horror

DANDENONG will be portrayed as a land of horror in a coming feature-length film.
The city’s historical Heritage Hill museum was the setting for an Australian film still being kept under wraps.
The horror film made use of the atmosphere at Heritage Hill’s two historic houses: the Benga for the years from 1936, the Laurel Lodge from 1869.
Filming ended last Sunday and mayor Peter Brown said it would be a great advertisement for Dandenong – if the film wasn’t too scary.
“Heritage Hill is still one of those hidden treasures,” he said.
“While it is frequently visited there are still residents and visitors who have not experienced the wonderful museum, gardens and buildings being used for the film.”
The film’s crew includes writer and director Brett Anstey, who has 15 years’ experience in the film industry, editor Dave Redman, a graduate of the Australian Film, Television and Radio School, producer Luke Gibson who has spent the past decade overseeing local television, commercials and theatre, and Justin Dix, whose work as a special effects make-up artist has seen him work on Star Wars Episodes II and III.
