A PORTABLE gaming device and mobile phone were stolen from three youths during a robbery in Springvale last week.
Police said the youths were walking along Bournemouth Avenue, Springvale South, at 7pm on 14 October when they were approached by about 15 men of African appearance.
A male from the larger group confronted one of the three youths, grabbing hold of the front of his shirt while another male threatened him with a broken brick.
Nothing was taken from this youth, but one of the other youths had his mobile phone and Sony Playstation Portable (PSP) taken.
All three youths were threatened and assaulted by the group before one male in the group intervened and told victims to “run away”.
Senior Constable Tommy Pietrosanto of Frankston Embona Tasforce said police would like to speak with anyone who witnessed the robbery.
“We would like to speak with any person who may have witnessed this incident, or has any information in relation to the offenders,” he said.
“We are particularly interested in hearing from the man who intervened and stopped this incident before any one suffered a serious injury.”
One of the men was referred to as ‘Peter’ during the incident, he said.
Anyone with information should contact Sen Const Pietrosanto on 9784 5540, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
