A SCRAP rubber exporter has officially opened a new facility in Dandenong South.
SML Suppliers last week opened its $700,000 plant in Dandenong South to be used to export scrap rubber instead of sending the material to landfill.
The company also uses the scrap rubber to create rubber mats used for horses, cattle, and general safety.
Cranbourne MP Jude Perera, who officially opened the plant last week, said SML Suppliers had built its fortunes exporting scrap rubber.
“SML Suppliers now boast success in exporting thousands of tonnes of scrap rubber compound whilst making a strong contribution to our environment and economy as a whole,” he said.
“I take my hat off to (the company) as the new facility represents expenditure of $700,000 and several new employment opportunities, all of which will give the local economy a real boost.”
Mr Perera said the exporting of scrap rubber by the plant had environmental benefits.
“The State Government wants to promote a better quality of life for all Victorians by ensuring our economy, our society and our environment all improve in a sustainable and harmonious manner.”
