LYNDALE Primary School has produced a fresh take on fundraising.
The school is growing vegetables in its very own patch, planted by students, and will sell them before the Christmas break.
Grade three and four teacher Lisa Ferracane said the proceeds would go towards the school for future activities.
Bunnings in Dandenong donated three trays of seedlings to Lyndale this week.
Vegetable varieties included lettuce, tomatoes, capsicum, herbs, squash, zucchini, pumpkin and silverbeet.
“They have been planted and watered in,” Ms Ferracane said.
“All of the students in grades three to six took part in the planting.
“Every child got the chance to plant one seedling.”
Ms Ferracane said water used on the vegetable patch was from the school’s rainwater tank.
And in case the vegetables aren’t fully grown by Christmas, Ms Ferracane said students would pot and then sell the plants to ensure they were cared for over the summer holiday.
